New Ambulatory Care And Diagnostics Building
In order to address several issues across the Heartlands Hospital site the Trust Board took a decision to develop a case for an Ambulatory Care and Diagnostics Centre (ACAD). The majority of the site is of an age whereby it is no longer financially viable to maintain the buildings to a level required to deliver modern healthcare. In some areas this has restricted the ability to have efficient processes and deliver the level of modern healthcare required.
The ACAD will allow for significant improvements to the patient journey through Imaging, Outpatients (OPD) including ENT/Audiology, Ophthalmology, Fracture clinic, Therapies and Day Procedures including Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology and Urology Treatments.
The PDT has worked with clinical and operational staff to design safe and efficient processes for both patients and staff. This will improve the patient experience and support the delivery of quality care within a modern facility.
A series of transition projects have been identified by the clinical/operational teams. This will allow staff and patients to be prepared ahead of the building opening, to ensure a smooth transition in 2020.
ACAD will be built on existing space at the front of the hospital site which will allow for other developments in the future.

New Solihull Chemotherapy Day Unit
To ensure the Trust has the correct capacity to meet the future Chemotherapy demand, a project has been established to provide a Chemotherapy Day Unit on the Solihull Hospital Site. Chemotherapy is currently provided on the Heartlands and Good Hope Hospital sites where there is no room to expand the services.
The Chemotherapy Day Unit on the Solihull Site will enhance the patient experience by improving the environment in which patients receive chemotherapy and increasing the capacity of the service.
This will allow a high risk and emergency unit to be established on the Heartlands site.
